Establishing Autoimmune Disease Categories in NIH Research
The Autoimmune Disease Research Portfolio, compiled by the Office of Autoimmune Disease Research (OADR) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Research on Women’s Health, provides a comprehensive overview of the numerous autoimmune diseases under investigation.
While widely recognized conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, psoriatic arthritis, and celiac disease are included, the NIH’s research extends to 144 different autoimmune diseases across multiple organ systems.
