JAMA+ Launches Women’s Health Channel

The JAMA Network has launched JAMA+ Women’s Health, a centralized platform showcasing evidence-based research, policies, and commentary across all areas of women’s health. Editor-in-Chief Linda Brubaker, MD, MS, emphasizes that women’s health extends far beyond reproduction and menopause, encompassing every specialty where sex-based biological and clinical differences shape outcomes.

Historically, most clinical research excluded or underrepresented women, limiting the accuracy of medical guidance.

Now, with more rigorous inclusion of women in clinical trials, a clearer understanding of sex-specific physiology and disease expression is emerging. The new JAMA+ Women’s Health channel aims to improve visibility, discoverability, and access to this growing body of evidence, supporting clinicians in providing more precise, equitable care.

For autoimmune disease, which disproportionately affects women, this effort marks an important shift toward recognizing how immune responses, hormones, and genetics differ between sexes.

By consolidating research across JAMA’s 12 journals, we hope this initiative accelerates insights into why autoimmune diseases are more prevalent in women and how treatment approaches can be tailored accordingly.
